36 Chambers of Wu-Tang
It was great to see everyone back from their holidays for the first quiz of THE GAUNTLET, or what we’re calling the special Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday lineup of shows this week. BRUS kicked off the quiz festival the right way with Pork Chop Monday and their always-on-point list of fermentables.
This week, 20 teams were able to decipher pizza logos through their beer goggles, correctly knew the difference between an election and an inauguration, and desperately wanted to be rescued by cute dogs. Unfortunately no one had a Swedish parent in the 1980s who loved banana-based casseroles.
The by-the-book winners Herman’s Extra Klown walked away with Golden Tickets to the beer board followed by Jojo Vibes with a pack of cans. Three teams entered the third place cage match, with the Nørrebros showing off their highbrow opera knowledge to score the prize. Technically at the top this week, the Viqueens proved the ‘more players wins championships’ quiz strategy true but traded their ability to win a prize for six players’ worth of friendship.
Ask Anna snagged the most average prize and stealthily dodged their photo opportunity, leaving them entirely anonymous. Quartet split a Fritz-Kola for their good sportsmanship in last place.

Investment-Grade Pens
To celebrate our second quiz at BRUS (on a holiday, no less!), we cracked open a brand-new box of 50 quiz pens. We saw one high-performing team completely destroy one pen under the weight of their own brilliance but we somehow ended the night with 53 pens.
We’re not sure if those extra three pens were donations from conscientious quizzers or the beginnings of a business idea with a guaranteed 6% yield on cheap ballpoint pens - either way, we were happy to be of service.
16 teams joined us on Easter Monday to try their hands at answering and drinking at the same time. We’re positive no one had the Monday Scaries as you all expertly navigated questions about arthritis medication, the length of the Channel Tunnel (or, conversely, the height of 169 Eiffel Towers), and supernumerary nipple-havers. As for whatever the egg-watch and The Bull are, well, ask your parents.
The Viqueens, with their perfect knowledge of songs your mom liked from 2000-2009, took the top spot and a round of the most experimental beers on offer. Jojo Vibes slid into second place with their rack of tallboy cans and promises of free ballet tickets, but your quizmasters are beyond reproach and cannot be bribed.
Anna and Mom maximized their most average single beer by splitting it between their two very intelligent members. Good sports Nørrebros made out like teetotal bandits in last place, scoring a round of very lightly alcoholic bottled cocktails.

Lightly Fermented
Last night we held our very first quiz at BRUS, a place dedicated to fermenting everything they can get their hands on - from beers to fries and everything in between.
27 teams knew all about the countries that end in Y, a bunch of French words, and a surprising number of celebrity boyfriends. You were also fantastic connoisseurs of 70s soul and songs about joking and smoking - giving us the highest music round average in the history of the show! Mrs. Dalloway got the TL;DR treatment, though.
The inaugural winners of the first BRUS quiz were Jojo Vibes, followed very closely by Gerard’s Disciples, winning a variety of beers from a variety of sources. Royals and Naked expertly divided their most average prize while last-place good sports Sydders took home the absolute freshest non-alcoholic Christmas beer the city has to offer in March.
